The Dragon
In the legends of King Arthur, dragons often symbolize power, danger, and magic. They are large, fire-breathing creatures that appear in different stories, sometimes as enemies and sometimes as symbols of royalty and strength.
One famous connection to dragons is Merlin’s prophecy. He had a vision of a red dragon and a white dragon fighting. This symbolized the struggle between the Britons (red dragon) and the Saxons (white dragon) for control of Britain. The red dragon later became the symbol of Wales.
Some stories tell of Arthur or his knights slaying dragons to protect the kingdom. Dragons in these legends often represent evil forces, but in some myths, they also hold ancient wisdom and magical power.
